Highlight: Philadelphia Dog Show : Bitchfest
Purebred pooches primp and parade with panache. Translation: A “Best in Show” for bitches. The Kennel Club of Philadelphia hosts the National Dog Show, inviting more than 150 breeds that don’t just sit, stay and be good dogs; they are also judged on intelligence, athleticism and obedience. Wondering just how they choose the, ahem, top dog? Breed winners proceed to one of seven groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding. The winners of the groups then trot against each other for the best in show. And if you just happen to miss it, the show also airs Thanksgiving at noon on NBC. Or, you could always take a walk to Rittenhouse Square to see our local bests.
