Family Matters

BUCKS COUNTY
The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works.
Started in 1898 by oddball Henry Chapman Mercer, this National Historic Landmark once produced some of the most exquisite mosaics in the world. It’s now a museum that cranks out handmade tiles the same way Mercer once did. 130 Swamp Road, Doylestown, 215-345-6722; mptw.go.to.

CHESTER COUNTY
Longwood Gardens.
With its 100th birthday this year, Longwood is hosting an almost absurd number of events, from concerts to demos, plant walks and children’s activities, plus its signature “festival of fountains.” 1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, 610-388-1000; longwoodgardens.org.

DELAWARE COUNTY
Brandywine Battlefield Park.
Losers are often more interesting than winners — which may be why Brandywine Battlefield Park, where in 1777 the good guys got spanked in the bloodiest day of the Revolutionary War, is so fascinating. 1491 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford; 610-459-3342.

MAIN LINE
Chanticleer.
The former Rosengarten estate is now a 35-acre “pleasure garden” that’s packed with tropical plants, flowering trees and a vegetable patch. 786 Church Road, Wayne, 610-687-4163; chanticleergarden.org.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Glencairn Museum.
Inside 75-plus rooms on 11 floors, Glencairn showcases more than 8,000 Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Native American and Islamic artifacts. 1001 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, 267-502-2993; glencairnmuseum.org.

PHILADELPHIA
Yards Brewery Tour.
For three hours each Saturday, Yards Brewing Company offers informal, informative tours of its Kensington brewery — and a chance to sample the city’s best locally brewed beer. 2439 Amber Street, 215-634-2600; yardsbrewing.com.

SOUTH JERSEY
Cowtown Rodeo.
Saturday nights from the end of May until the end of September, legitimate cowboys (and girls) rope, ride and race in this professional rodeo. 780 Route 40, Pilesgrove, 856-769-3200; cowtownrodeo.com.
