This Thursday, November 6th, local queer poet—and 2013 Women of the World Poetry Slam winnerDenice Frohman is making a special appearance at World Café Live alongside local musician Andrew Lipke and the Aizuri Quartet. The artists will come together to create a mix of indie rock, classical music, and spoken word rhymes for a one-night event.

Lipke will be premiering new music with the Aizuri Quartet, and Frohman will perform her poem “Anniversary,” set to new music by Lipke. Tickets for Thursday’s show are just $20 ($14 for students) and can be purchased here.

Frohman made headlines last year when she performed the now-viral poem “Dear Straight People.”

Thursday’s event comes courtesy of LiveConnections‘ ClassicAlive series, which brings together diverse musicians to perform for underserved communities via webcasting and live programming. Look for the next show in the series on Sunday, November 23rd at World Cafe Live. Featuring Michi Wiancko and Judd Greenstein, the performance will mix classical chamber-pop with folk, jazz, and electronica.
