An Easter spread from Isgro Pastries | Dominic Episcopo

Here at Foobooz, every holiday is a food holiday. For Passover, some of us are dreaming of braised brisket and matzo ball soup, while others fill Easter baskets with locally-made chocolate and host a brunch with mimosas galore. Whether you’re looking for a dessert to top off your table, traditional Passover sweets to save you the hassle of baking a flourless chocolate cake, or a reservation for Easter brunch, the restaurants of Philadelphia are here to help.

Isgro Pastries, Italian Market
If there’s a Catholic tradition around a holiday, Isgro is likely to have the perfect thing for it. Easter is no exception: in addition to a large, egg-shaped cake and plenty of sweets, get your hands on a traditional Easter ham pie. It’s one of the few savory pastries they offer throughout the year, stuffed full of whole milk ricotta, ham, parmesan, and pecorino. You’ll absolutely need a nap after eating a piece, but it will be worth it.

Biederman’s Specialty Foods, Italian Market
A board loaded with hand-sliced smoked salmon, cream cheese, matzo, and chocolate-covered coconut macarons is a natural fit for a Passover brunch. But would anybody really be mad if you swapped out the matzo for bagels and served it for Easter? We didn’t think so.

Le Cavalier, Wilmington, DE
The gorgeous dining room at Le Cavalier will work as an excellent backdrop for Easter brunch if you need to please your parents, your picky cousin, and your grandma. This North African and French restaurant is serving a bottomless brunch for $95 per person. Expect a dining room with stations spanning seafoods, pastries, eggs cooked to order, and a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar. Plus, a buffet-style meal means there’s something for everyone (even the picky cousin).

Garces Trading Companyhome delivery
Home catering might feel fancy, but Garces’ sub-$50 meal makes for an appealing option. They offer a couple of special-occasion sets, including a multi-course seder package that includes everything you need for the holiday. For $38 per person, you get cabbage and orange salad, matzo ball soup, roasted fingerling potatoes, date and walnut charoset, braised brisket, and rugelach. Most delivery packages require a 24-hour pre-order.

Oui PastriesOld City
Oui’s Easter pastries are exactly what we all want: bunny-shaped treats that taste better than most bunny-shaped treats. They’re doing bunny cinnamon buns, peep cookies, bunny cake pops and more. Your Easter basket will be delighted.

Shane ConfectioneryOld City
Speaking of Easter baskets, no basket is complete without a buttercream egg carefully decorated with flowers or a chocolate rabbit (Shane serves theirs in dark, milk and white chocolate varieties). They even offer tiny, foil-covered chocolate eggs perfect for an egg hunt.

Fiore Fine Foods, Queen Village
Fiore has a way of turning familiar dishes into something more special than what you might be cooking at home, which is why we trust them completely with a classic Passover meal. Their 2022 menu has all the usual seder plate fixings, including matzo ball soup, apple-walnut charoset, homemade gefilte fish, beet salad, potato kugel, and a spice-rubbed brisket with onion jus. Not to mention, coconut macaroons and flourless chocolate cake to finish it out. Each meal costs $59 per person, and is available for pick-up on April 16th and 17th.

High Street PhillyCenter City
High Street’s spring bake sale has it all: Carrot cake, hot cross buns, coconut macarons, chocolate babka, lemon poppyseed babka, two type of rugelach, and homemade matzoh that will change everything you thought you knew about matzoh. For those less cooking-inclined, they’re also offering a couple of helpful Passover dinner takeout packages for $60 per person.
