Mac Mart’s Center City Storefront Revealed

It's just one of the new businesses coming to the 100 block of 18th Street.

Yes, we'd say we found Mac Mart's storefront.

Yes, we’d say we found Mac Mart’s storefront.

Over the past few months, Mac Mart–the mac-n-cheese food truck about town–has been teasing out that they are getting a brick-and-mortar location near Rittenhouse Square. Owner Marti Lieberman has even taken to hanging teasing posters stating “Philly’s First ALL Mac’n Cheese Restaurant Is Coming Soon … But not HERE.”  And back in August she tweeted a hint I identified as the metalworking in front of Franklin Mortgage.

So when she recently tweeted another photo of her feet in front of her storefront we couldn’t help but play along, recreating the photo you see here. HughE Dillon also received confirmation yesterday that Mac Mart’s storefront was filling in the vacant Liberty Shoe Service at 104 South 18th Street.

The stretch of 18th between Chestnut and Sansom is seeing several new businesses. In addition to Mac Mart’s storefront, Matt & Marie’s second location is taking over the long vacant Tony Jr.’s space at 118 South 18th Street and work continues apace at the former Good Stuff Eatery, which will soon be Cleavers, a cheesesteak joint.

Across the street, tea retailer Steap has closed up shop. We assume anything on that side of the street qill eventually be taken over by Di Bruno Bros. but we’ll keep an eye out on any new developments on that space. But for now, several new lunch options are on the way.
