Tonight: A Spring Introduction At Helm

Since opening the doors at Helm a little over a month ago, Kevin D’Egidio and Michael Griffiths have been hitting their stride, putting up their own brand of focused plates, and making new friends. Now that the weather has warmed and they’re starting to see more locally-grown and foraged produce they’re throwing a little party tonight to celebrate.

Hosted by local painter Mike Geno, the event is limited to 33 guests. Fifty dollars cash per person buys you a seat at the four course family-style meal, and that includes tax and tip. While the restaurant is always BYOB, nearby brewery St. Benjamin’s is also joining the party and they’ll be bringing beers to sample alongside the menu.

Though it was still taking shape as of yesterday, Griffiths and D’Egidio are promising guests a menu of about four courses, beginning with vegetables, either asparagus or their charred leeks with Tewkesbury cheese and goat yogurt. The second course will be either squid or pasta, and they’ve got beautiful ducks air-drying for an entree of roasted duck and confit hash. Since vegetable cookery is their passion, expect to see plenty of local goodness prepared in a vegetarian-friendly way as well.
