Afternoon Tea at The Dandelion

England has really been at the forefront of our minds recently, ever since we heard that Emma Watson is maybe dating Prince Harry. We can’t all marry into the royal family (although this Foobooz intern is single and very open to propositions from royalty), but the next best thing is attending everyone’s favorite made up meal in the world: high tea.

High tea is the best import to America from England since…well, the colonists, and tea doesn’t come with deadly diseases. The Dandelion has officially begun offering an afternoon high tea every day from 3-5 pm with a traditional service including tea, cocktails, and sweet and savory menu items served on those very pretty (albeit impractical) tiered trays.

The savory menu includes very traditionally English items, such as beer battered fish and chips, Welsh rarebit on buttermilk toast, and lamb shepherd’s pie (among other options). The sweet menu offers a selection of ice creams and sorbets, a tea cookie plate, and sticky toffee pudding with rum butter pecan ice cream.

Of course, there’s a tea selection but more importantly, the cocktail menu has some highlights worth pointing out. Stay warm with a hot chai apple cider (spiked with rye), or a scotch honeysuckle, or forget the snow and pretend you’re at a croquet match in the middle summer in Kent with a Pimm’s Cup.

Reservations aren’t necessary so just stroll on over.
