Joe’s Steaks Adds Fishtown Location

Joe’s Steaks + Soda Shop (formerly Chink’s) is adding a location in Fishtown. The new Joe’s Steaks will be located at the corner of Frankford and Girard Avenues, in the long vacant Acropolis Diner. The new location will have seating for 50-60 guests and will offer an expanded pickle and pepper bar. A grill in the front window will mirror the original shop’s layout. Owner, Joe Groh says “this move was inevitable for the continued success of the restaurant.” Groh hopes “the larger space and vibrant location will create a whole new generation of Joe’s lovers.”

The original Torresdale Avenue location will remain open as it has been since 1949, when it first began slinging cheesesteaks, milkshakes and egg creams. Though with the expansion, it’s likely that the original may close on Mondays and Tuesdays so Groh can more easily split his time between the two locations.
