Beyond the BYOB and the Bistro

We have a lot of BYOB’s in Philly, for multiple reasons that have been dissected ad nauseum here and here and here. We’re currently in the midst of a French revolution with Coquette, Cochon, Zinc and the soon-to-open Starr spot Parc. Let’s not forget the steady stream of steakhouses.

At Foobooz, we’re wondering what kinds of restaurants YOU would like to see open in the next year? Do you want more husband-and-wife-helmed BYOBs? More roast pork stands? More Qdoba’s?

We can’t speak for Mr. Foobooz, but we love beer bars with food (a.k.a gastropubs) and think they’re the Philly signature food experience. So much so that we’ve championed them here. And we were rightfully appalled when Nation’s Restaurant News pretended that they were invented in New York, as was the San Francisco Chronicle’s food critic Michael Bauer.
