The first thing that needs to be altered is the Eagles’ self-perception.
This team is sinking like a stone. They have lost five straight and now sit at the bottom of the NFC East at 3-6. Over the past two seasons, the Eagles are a combined 11-14. They just suffered a 15-point home loss to the rival Cowboys in yet another desperation game played without desperation.
That has not stopped Andy Reid‘s club, though, from continuing to insist that they are stacked.
“I believe that once we get it all together, we should dominate,” said LeSean McCoy. “We have the players here and Coach [Reid] is a winning coach.”
Dominate?
Here are my instant observations from the Eagles’ 38-23 loss to the Cowboys.
Michael Vick was forced into the locker room early in the second quarter with a concussion and an eye injury. He will not return.
On 3rd-and-2 from the Philadelphia 37, Ernie Sims came loose on a blitz and hit Vick as he threw. The pass sailed high on what would have been a big gain for McCoy down the left sideline. Sims helped Vick to his feet, and the offense jogged off the field.
Moments later, Vick was heading inside with trainers by his side. Nick Foles took his place under center.
The following players are inactive for the Eagles’ NFC East matchup against the Cowboys: Trent Edwards, Mardy Gilyard, Chris Polk, Danny Watkins, Nate Menkin, Vinny Curry and Phillip Hunt.
DeMarco Murray is out. Plenty of other big names on the injury list for the Cowboys.
