If you need a reason to travel to New Orleans next year, here’s a cheap one: Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines just announced new seasonal service to the ever-popular Louisiana city.

The non-stop flights at the Philadelphia International Airport will be available starting Thursday, May 2, 2019 and will operate four times a week — plenty of time for you to get to the buzzing Bourbon Street or artsy Jackson Square.

“New Orleans’ popularity as a destination for both fun and business has contributed to Spirit’s growth here over the last five years,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit’s vice president of Network Planning, in a statement. “In 2014, Spirit flew to New Orleans from one city with one daily flight, and with this new service, Spirit is expanding to serve nearly 20 cities nonstop with an average of 17 flights per day.”

Though the new service unfortunately won’t get you to New Orleans in time for Mardi Gras, which goes down in March, Spirit runs year-round Atlantic City to New Orleans service, which kicked off in April with round-trip fares as low as $131.

As of Friday morning, the lowest round-trip fares for the nonstop Philadelphia to New Orleans flight is $151.

But remember, Spirit starts with an unbundled fare. Guests are required to choose customizable travel options. This means there are additional costs for bags, seat assignments and refreshments. The airline calls its process “A La Smarte.”
