From Sean Smith to Glover Quin to Eric Winston, here’s the latest free agency buzz around the NFL.

The slow trickle of news that marked the early portion of the three-day “legal tampering period” has turned into more of a steady stream. By Monday night — or Free Agency Eve — it was flowing real nice, including where the Eagles are concerned.

Adam Schefter got things rolling with some news regarding fan favorite Dashon Goldson.

An upcoming Michael Vick appearance at an Atlanta Barnes and Noble has been cancelled following multiple threats of violence to Vick, his family, store employees and store property.

These threats have been reported to police.

Vick was set to sign copies of his book, “Michael Vick: Finally Free” at three Barnes and Noble locations: in Atlanta, Moorestown, N.J. and Exton, Pa. All have been cancelled because of safety concerns. The Atlanta appearance was scheduled for this Saturday.

There has been a recent uptick in what a source close to Vick calls “credible threats of violence” directed toward the Eagles quarterback and his family.

The Eagles are among six teams showing interest in Raiders defensive lineman Desmond Bryant, according to a report. Plus, the latest buzz on Dashon Goldson, Sean Smith and others.

The Eagles made a couple moves that will affect their special teams today, re-signing safety Colt Anderson and long-snapper Jon Dorenbos.

The Eagles’ brass traveled to Morgantown, W. Va. today to work out quarterback Geno Smith, a league source confirmed.

Pro Football Talk first had the report.

Chip Kelly, Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie made the trip to meet with Smith, who is expected to be the first quarterback off the board in April’s draft.

 James Harrison and his representation consider Philadelphia a desirable landing spot for the Pro Bowl linebacker.

“They are one of the teams that we have talked about,” said Harrison’s agent, Bill Parise. “I think the Eagles would be a good fit with his skill set and what they want to do there.”

A new name will enter the free agency market at safety: Quintin Mikell.

The former Eagle will be released by the Rams on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Mikell spent eight seasons in Philadelphia before signing with St. Louis in 2011.

The Eagles are reportedly interested in 49ers defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois. And could they potentially be looking to land Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis?

We are now one day into the unofficial start of free agency and so far, crickets.

Teams are moving very cautiously at the start of this new three-day “legal tampering” period recently implemented by the NFL. Club execs and agents are allowed to talk with one another, but were warned by the league that “any announcement of an agreement or an agreement in principle by a club or another party…may subject the club to a tampering investigation.”

Confident that no deals will be struck this early on in the process, the Eagles and the rest of the league are fishing around to get a sense for what the market could be for a player, but aren’t all that willing to set the market by talking real numbers. With no offers coming in, agents are left feeling confused and frustrated. One that we talked to Saturday started letting most calls from general managers go to voicemail, opting instead for a round of golf. Talks will likely intensify as we get closer to the real start of free agency (4 p.m. Tuesday), but  it’s off to a slow start.

Last week, we took a detailed look at the Eagles’ current roster and how the pieces might fit in a 3-4 or 4-3 under.

While Chip Kelly is not ready to put a label on his defense, and decisions will be personnel-driven, by all accounts, a scheme change from the traditional 4-3 is coming.

As we’ve discussed throughout the week, the purpose of free agency is to fill needs. In the past year, the Eagles have parted ways with Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson. Free agent Darryl Tapp will almost certainly be gone too. That means the Eagles will be in the market for versatile defensive linemen.

And look for them to add a piece or two at outside linebacker as well. Trent Cole, Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry are all expected to make the switch from DE, but the Eagles will likely seek someone who has proven cover skills.

Keeping those things in mind, here are some outside linebackers and defensive linemen expected to be on the market.

The Eagles are in big-time need of some help in the secondary. Fortunately for them, the list of players they’ll have to choose from in free agency continues to grow as we near the start of the three-day negotiating period.

The Cardinals released five-time Pro Bowl safety Adrian Wilson Friday. The 33-year-old has spent all 12 seasons of his distinguished NFL career in the desert, but he’ll be in a different uniform in 2013. The 6-3, 222-pound defensive back had three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in 15 games last season.

Howie Roseman told Birds 24/7 that he will not necessarily shy away from a player because of his age.
