Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives

The following Eagles are inactive for tonight’s game against the Cowboys: QB Matt Barkley, safety Earl Wolff, safety Colt Anderson, CB Curtis Marsh, RB Matthew Tucker, guard/center Julian Vandervelde and OT Dennis Kelly.

Wolff had missed four games in a row before returning last week briefly against the Bears. But his knee issue re-surfaced, and he won’t go. Nate Allen and Patrick Chung will start at safety. Kurt Coleman (hamstring) will be the first backup. He missed last week’s game. The Eagles also have Keelan Johnson as a backup.

The offensive line situation is one worth monitoring. Vandervelde suffered a back injury and won’t go. Undrafted rookie Matt Tobin is active for the second time this season. Allen Barbre is the Eagles’ second backup lineman.

Should Jason Kelce suffer an in-game injury, Evan Mathis would likely move over to center and Barbre would come in to play guard.

Other than Wolff and Vandervelde, the inactives are exactly the same as a week ago. Michael Vick backs up Nick Foles, and Barkley doesn’t dress.

The Eagles have four corners active: Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin and Roc Carmichael.
