The Eagles interviewed Brian Billick on Monday and consider the former Ravens coach one of the leading candidates, according to a report.
The head-coaching search has not stopped the Eagles from looking at ways to improve their personnel.
The team checked out CFL defensive tackle Armon Armstead (6-5, 300) last week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter calls Armstead “the equivalent of a high draft pick.”
The Eagles’ game plan heading into this coaching search now seems pretty obvious.
They were going to swing and swing hard at some of the big name college coaches early, and see if they couldn’t land a Kelly or an O’Brien or any collegiate coach with an Irish last name and some sizzle. There was an inherent risk in this strategy: such a pursuit will draw headlines, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to lure these guys out of some of the top programs in the country. Come up empty, and your quest will look like a failure.
We can scratch another name off the Eagles’ list.
Brian Kelly is staying put at Notre Dame, the school announced Saturday. Where do the Eagles go from here?
Jason LaCanfora put out a pretty potent Eagles tweet Sunday afternoon. He threw some cold water on the Eagles-Brian Kelly courtship and tied them to Bill Cowher all in less than 140 characters.
The Eagles are “going all in” on Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, according to a report.
Pro Football Talk, citing a source, says that the Eagles want Kelly to be their next head coach.
And if the Eagles don’t get Kelly, there’s a sense that they won’t quite know where to turn next.
This is shaping up to be a critical weekend in the Eagles’ search for a new head coach.
Earlier today, we updated you on the courting of Brian Kelly. And now, a league source confirms that Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman and Don Smolenski will meet with another candidate, Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
The Eagles’ brass will meet Bradley in Atlanta today. The Seahawks face the Falcons in Sunday’s divisional-round playoff game.
Brian Kelly is “seriously debating” making the leap to the NFL, according to a report.
But there’s one major issue: He doesn’t have an offer from the Eagles yet.
The Eagles will interview Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden on Monday, according to multiple sources. The Eagles have since confirmed the date.
The younger brother of Jon Gruden sat down with the Cardinals on Thursday. While he is honoring teams’ requests to meet with him, he does not sound like he is itching to get out of Cincinnati.
Andy Reid unveiled his new coaching staff on Friday. It includes plenty of familiar names, and even a member of his family.
His son, Britt Reid, will serve as a quality control coach.
Marty Mornhinweg will reportedly interview with the Jets to become their next offensive coordinator.
The Eagles aren’t the only team showing interest in Gus Bradley.
The Chargers interviewed the Seahawks defensive coordinator last night, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network. The Eagles, meanwhile, have yet to meet with him, as Tim explained this morning. No other teams have expressed public interest in Bradley.
The Eagles interviewed Lovie Smith yesterday, but the former Bears coach has other suitors.
He’s headed to San Diego to meet with the Chargers about their vacancy, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
As Week 2 of the coaching search nears its conclusion, a lot of Eagles fan are asking: What is going on with Gus Bradley?
It was back on January 4 when word came down that the Eagles requested and were granted to speak to the Seahawks defensive coordinator, but all has been quiet since then.
The Cleveland Browns’ coaching search has led them to Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.
So, where does that leave the Eagles?
