6 Magical Plant Stores in Philadelphia Where You Can Fill Your Life With Greenery

Because plants look good – and make you feel good, too.

Scrolling through Instagram these days, all we see is green. Of course, about half of that is due to avocado toast. But the other half is house plants.

Given that being surrounded by plants has a ton of health benefits — not only do they help remove toxins from the air we breathe, but they also may help women live longer (score!) — it’s no surprise that all the health bloggers we follow are as obsessed with greenery as we are.

That said, living in a concrete jungle can make finding plants for your home easier said than done. But fear not, plant lovers! We’ve found six shops in Philadelphia where you can pick up plants — from pudgy little succulents to spiky little air plants — and surround yourself with these Insta-worthy mood boosters.

Urban Jungle

Fittingly named, this East Passyunk shop has what you need to create your own mini jungle, even if you live in the heart of the city. From finding plants that love the indoors to their terrarium-making workshops, this store will turn you into a citified green thumb in no time.

City Planter

This warehouse-turned-plant-shop is a great spot to pick up quirky plant vessels — like alphabet blocks turned into planters — and to get some expert advice on how to fill your space with green. Plus, they’ve got a special-order catalogue, so if you don’t see what you like in store, they can help you pick it out and get it delivered.

Greensgrow West

You may know of Greensgrow farms for their CSA program, but on the west side of town, they’ve also got a Garden Center. They’ve got what you need to start your own windowsill herb garden, seeds to plant in your own mini garden, and a steady supply of house plants and DIY terrarium ingredients.

Plants Etc.

This cozy shop has been open since 1982, and it’s a good go-to in Fairmount for spiky desktop cacti — like you see here — or floral arrangements to brighten any nook of your home.

Weekend

While this new concept shop in Rittenhouse is really more of a general gift shop than a proper plant store, they’re a prime spot to pick up some trendy succulents. From these potted plants to air-plant-filled terrariums, there’s plenty to choose from to start bringing green into your home.

Moon + Arrow

True, true, Moon + Arrow also sells a lot more than plants. But from succulents to living wall decor (pictured above), this Queen Village shop can inspire all kinds of ways to display plants — then sell you what you need to make it happen in your space.
