New Yoga Studio Opens Today in Haverford

Listen up, suburbanites: A new yoga studio opens its doors today in Haverford, and you should make a plan to check it out this weekend. Prana House Yoga is opening at 385 West Lancaster Avenue in Haverford. Tonight, they’re hosting a free grand-opening party, where you can check out the space and meet the instructors.

The studio is the brainchild of Dhyana Yoga vets Nadia Stadnycki and Derek Hopkins. “From the words out of our mouth as an idea to launching today has only been about two months,” says Stadnycki. “It’s been a magical ride.”

The quick turnaround was possible because the space had previously been used as a yoga studio; yogis will remember it as the former Jai Yoga space. But Stadnycki says they did some renovations to make it work for their vision, revamping the visual space and adding changing rooms and space for private instruction, life coaching and Thai massage.

Tonight’s party gets underway at 6 p.m. Stadnycki and Hopkins will preview some of their offerings, including a kids’ program that will formally launch in January. The studio will primarily stick with the Ashtanga style of yoga, harkening to its owners’ backgrounds, with classes for beginners to seasoned yogis. They’ll even have a series for those 55 and older.

The debut class is tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. It’s $15 for cash drop-ins and $17 for credit cards. You’ll be able to sign up online later today when the schedule goes live. The regular yoga schedule will begin on Sunday.
