#BWPSelfie of the Week: “I Push Myself Past My Limits”

selfie

This week’s #BWPSelfie-taker, Paige!

Welcome to our new weekly feature, the #BWPSelfie of the Week! Read about why we’re celebrating selfies—and the sweaty Philadelphians who take them—below.

Name: Paige Layng

Day job: Co-founder of HappyPhilly + Co wellness events and blog, pharmaceutical meeting planner, and soon-to-be personal trainer

Where she snapped this: Corolla, North Carolina in the Outer Banks

What she was doing: Six-mile beach run

Longest run, ever, to date: 30 miles. It took forever! I’ll take speed workouts over long runs any day.

What she was listening to: You Make Me, Avicii

What she’s training for: Two things: Unite Fitness Decathlon in October and the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November.

Where you can find her when she’s not running: Riding all around the city on my bike. I just learned how to ride this summer, and I can’t stop! I might also be climbing rocks in Fairmount Park or kayaking on the Schuylkill.

How she stays motivated to sweat: Setting workout goals and challenging myself to exceed those goals. If my goal is to run seven miles, I’ll say, “Girl, you’ve got this.. Push it and run 7.5 instead!” I get such a rush from pushing myself past my supposed limits. The challenge keeps me coming back for more!

Editor’s note: The #BWPSelfie of the Week is our way to give a virtual high-five to Be Wellers who are sweating up a storm, making deliciously healthy meals, trying new adventures, and having all kinds of fun in and around Philly. So we want you to send us your healthiest, happiest selfies—tag ‘em #BWPSelfie on Instagram and Twitter, or email them—and we could feature you in an upcoming edition.
