Main Line Health Opens Doctor’s Office with Night, Weekend Hours
I’ve often wondered why my vet keeps more convenient hours than my doctor. If my dog’s sick, I can get an appoint at 7 p.m. on a Monday or 11 a.m. on a Saturday. But me? A stuffy nose requires taking time off from work to schlep to the doctor’s office. That means, unless things are dire, I’ll usually end up skipping the MD appointment instead of burning my lunch break.
A solution: Main Line Health’s new Broommall office that offers only evening and weekend hours. Yes, only. It’s staffed with a family-medicine practitioner who’ll see anyone, from infants to the elderly—no appointment necessary.
They’ll treat anything you might normally go to your primary doctor for: strep throat, say, or an ear ache, migraine, or injury, like a sprain. They’ll do work and school physicals, too, along with immunizations. After your appointment, staffers will follow up with your primary care doctor to keep him or her looped in on your treatment. Most insurance plans are accepted. Useful, right?
Main Line Health NOW (it stands for “nights or weekends,” of course) is located 1991 Sproul Road. It’s part of the Lankenau Medical Center. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information is here.
