Body of Girl Pulled from Delaware River Believed to Be Pamela Flores

The family of Frankford High School freshman Pamela Flores has been on a frantic search for the 14-year-old girl since she left her house on the morning of Tuesday, October 27th and never showed up for school. And now it appears as if that search may have come to a very sad end.

On Wednesday morning, divers recovered the body of a young Hispanic girl fitting Pamela Flores’ description from the Delaware River. According to sister Alba Flores, police believe the recovered body to be that of the missing girl.

“We are going to identify the body later today,” says the sister, adding that police found Pamela Flores’ phone and backpack near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge last week.

According to Alba Flores, there is also a video showing someone jumping or falling from the bridge a day after Pamela Flores was last seen by her family, but she says that the person wasn’t immediately identifiable in the video.

The family had been using social media to help get the word out about the missing girl, who had recently moved to Philadelphia from New York City.

“I really hope with all my heart that god listens to our prayers and brings our little girl home safe,” wrote cousin Meli Monegro in one of a series of social media posts attempting to spread the word about Pamela Flores. They established the hashtag ‪#‎findpamelaf‬.

The Philadelphia Police Department hasn’t released the identity of the girl and says that the medical examiner is expected to have more conclusive information available later today, presumably after the family makes the identification.

There was no Amber Alert issued for the missing girl, because there was no indication that she was abducted. Police also did not issue a general “missing person” alert, due to the backpack and the video being recovered a short time after she had been reported missing.
