Nearly Half of Adults Would Rather Do This Than Have Sex

Proof that we could all use a bit more quality time between the sheets (not that kind of quality time, you guys): A new sleep survey of over 1,000 adults, conducted by the TODAY Show, found that nearly half of adults would rather get a good night’s sleep than have sex. And when it comes to women, that number jumps up to 65 percent. Why, you ask? Well, according to the survey, we simply don’t get enough shut-eye.

Even though we all know not getting enough sleep makes for a miserable morning—baggy eyes, an unquenchable thirst for Starbucks, the grumpy demeanor of a hungry two-year-old—we still skimp on it. According to the survey, 46 percent of adults, and nearly 60 percent of women, don’t get the recommended eight hours of sleep each night.

So, what’s keeping us up? Well, all the stuff you’d expect: work, kids, Netflix, etc. And after answering emails, putting the kids to bed and catching an episode of The Walking Dead, when we finally do make it to bed, we really just want to sleep.

And this lack of sleep isn’t just screwing with our time in the bedroom: Of those who reported not getting enough sleep, 74 percent were worried about their health and nearly 40 percent of those folks between the ages of 18 and 34 said they had a hard time concentrating. Oh, and 16 percent confessed to dozing off at inappropriate times during the day. Yikes.

Now, all that said, who else will be turning in early tonight?
