its near me and i wish something better would open....go to adsum, kennett, or cataoula instead. they're much nicer, the food is better, and they're less expensive.....the bartenders at southwark are nasty, cant believe they get good press about their cocktails. i was there about 5 years ago when they first opened and a guy at the bar told kip how to make his now famous manhattan. what a fraud

For some reason I would rather sit at the bar or in the bar area when I go to Southwark than sit in the dining area in the back. Maybe its the fact that the bartenders are really good and will talk to you about anything and everything. The back seems a little like a totally different place. If you can sit in the bar area , enjoy a good glass of wine and you wont be disappointed with any dish. Been there 4 times and never had a bad experience.

Did Fat Tuesday's close on South Street? Less than desirable crowd that seems grimy AND it is just off raucous South Street at 4th and Bainbridge. My wife and I were petrified when we left at 10. The drinks were just OK. I would not take the trip out of Center City. The Palm, XIX, Butcher, Rouge make cocktails in a much more palatable atmosphere.

Heard about this place and had to try it. Sorry I did. Over priced with an attitude that in this day and age is ridiculous--particularly the obnoxious guy that looks like a billy goat. He made a drink for my partner and it was so sour it was undrinkable. We asked for him to try it and he went into an insulting rant. We just wanted to see if we were missing something. There were some frumpy regulars that looked aggravated and in need of a shower and deodorant that made is feel like we were not welcome. The bar itself is handsome, but there is a "I am better than you attitude" from the staff that makes the place not very appealing.
