A Room in the Sky for a $2.5 Million Rittenhouse Penthouse

This Rittenhouse-area penthouse condo at 1737 Chestnut has city zoning approval to build 20 feet in the air on top of the roof deck, which measures 21′ x 17′. The structure can be versatile, from outdoor entertaining area to summer sleep space. The important thing is: It’s already got the air rights, so there’ll be no intractable NIMBY debates or community meetings where hair is pulled and pulled out.

As for the space now, it has oak hardwood floors, a gas fireplace and arched windows that get a lot of light, according to the listing. The building, known as 1737, is prewar but was rehabbed about nine years ago. It’s pet-friendly, and obviously nicely located. There are 19 units.

Oakland…what a train wreck. I’m glad we’re playing them this year (though I wonder if other teams feel that way about the Eagles…). Hopefully they still have Matt Flynn flailing around back there when we head to town.

I doubt Oakland makes a play for Barkley. No way Dennis Allen is still around next year. I know they’ve had cap issues and Hue Jackson screwed them draft-wise with the Carson Palmer trade, but you at least want to see marginal competence. I don’t see them trading for a new quarterback if there’s a possibility they’ll be looking at a new coaching staff next year.

    • Richard Colton

Between T.Pryor and Carson Palmer, Oakland has spent too many high draft picks on QBs that didn’t work out, and they have too many roster holes to be frivolous with future picks at the same position. No way CK/Howie would part with Mark Barkley for anything less than a two – and Oakland doesn’t have that to spend.

    • dislikedisqus

Flynn is good, his OL is a horrorshow.

      • Don’t know if Flynn is good or not. BUT the OL is HORRIBLE and T. Pryor is fleet of foot which is handy when you have a bad oline.

  • Wilbert M.

I think Shepard will see a lot of time tonight and the next game, including the bulk of the returns. If we don’t see a lot of him, I think it will be because they’re trying to sneak him onto the practice squad.

  • nicksaenz1

Reading the Asomugha update solidifies the decision to part ways, despite the $4mil owed him. As someone who advocated keeping him at maybe $1-2mil more than what he was owed, happy we kept it and spent it elsewhere.

  • PaoliBulldog

If the Eagles can find a trade partner for Felix Jones, then they can probably do the same for Dixon. I’d rather have a marginal safety than a superfluous lineman who lacks the versatility that Kelly clearly prefers.

  • Nick

“He’s got Harbor making it”… *nudge nudge*

  • dislikedisqus

I predict Harbor takes Cooper’s spot and both Shepherd & Salas make the team.

  • cliff henny

anyone know where the game can be streamed online? guess ‘they’ caught up to firstrow.eu. wiziwig.com can be little rough, but only other site i know.

    Yawn….

    • RIP illa

      Goodnight!!!

      • Pennguino

Where have we seen this before?

        • RIP illa

Oh…I thought w/ you yawning and all, that you were sleepy and going to bed!!!

Stop it kid…in two drives there were two O-Linemen that F’d up. I’m not even gonna include Kelce’s high snap on a screen. In all fairness though, Vick does need to speed up going through his progressions since his line is struggling.

          • Pennguino

Already with the excuses. Yes the oline could play a tad better. This is the first time all preseason where Vick has had any pressure and you see the results. The same old thing. Yet Nick got killed for a fumble when two guys hanging on him and a guy pulling him down on his pick.

          • RIP illa

Excuses. You’re on one kid! Lane got through my beat by Babin and Mathis had a holding call. Now I’m making up excuses!!!

And Nick didn’t get killed for getting sacked off of horrible protection. He got killed for making a bad decision while taking a sack off of horrible protection…ie the fumble. Try again hater!!!

    • #7

Why aren’t you supporting the team instead of just watching the QB

      • Pennguino

I love my eagles. I support them. I don’t need to like every player. I will give Vick kudos when he does well. I will hammer his dumb azz when he sucks. That’s my right. You can swallow him all you want. I chose not to.

        • #7

Do your thing bro. I’m not JofreyRice

  • Pennguino

    Good job D

  • RIP illa

Nice Brown. Way to stick your head down and take what you can get

  • #7

Is Vick getting down on these runs. Watching this NFL wrap around crap

    • Andy124

A head first dive, a couple step out of bounds.

      • cliff henny

nawh, he got down way b4 defense. you can dive head first, just has to be a step earlier.

  • Pennguino

    Great INT from Barwin!!!!

  • RIP illa

    Where’s Dutch??? Go “Berwin”!!! Lol

    • cliff henny

forgot what that looks like!!!! was that willy t out there?!??

    • Andy124

      cut him

      • cliff henny

hang him first, put him in duffle bag, beat him with bag of oranges, than cut him, and the throw him off delaware bridge to feed him to the fishes

        • Andy124

          lol at bag of oranges.

      • Mr. Wu

dutch wanted to cut him…lmao…i missed that….sounds like him though

    • Richard Colton

beat me to it. damn. He’ll have an excuse. “Berwin” got great pressure on Joeckal on one play, then drops like a safety and picks Henne clean on another.

    • UKEagle99

“Go PIR alli” says Berwin AKA Barwin. Nice to see the D get a takeaway

  • Mr. Wu

    nice drive

  • Pennguino

    COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP

  • Pennguino

Great protection and good read/throw by Vick

    • #7

Good series D. Lets see some tempo next series

  • Mr. Wu

thought chip taught catch with your body?

    • UKEagle99

To be fair, he caught and secured it… Then plain fumbled :-/

  • UKEagle99

    Ouch

  • Pennguino

    Sucks

  • ReggieWhite

In fairness that was a good pop

    • Pennguino

It was a good pop but that ball was not secured well as there was no hit on the ball. It just came out.

  • cliff henny

all fumbles are bad…but that was horrible

  • Andy124

    Brackett!

  • RIP illa

Kendrick’s in ball out mode the last 2 games!

  • UKEagle99

    Kendricks is THRIVING!

  • Andy124

    Berwin again

    • UKEagle99

We should get a new gameshow going “Swap the vowels” starring Berwin, Barwun, Birwun, Barwan and Burwun :-)

      • RIP illa

I think you would win hands down. You English and you variety of uses of vowels and all.

    • Richard Colton

he’s a machine. lining up all over: Joker, OLB, over center. He and Kendricks look great

      • RIP illa

Come RC…I know you got Dutch on speed dial! Call him up and get him on the board!

        • Richard Colton

he’s banned for one week over “Berwin”

  • RIP illa

I’m hoping the starters play deep into the third to make up for that atrocious start!

    • ReggieWhite

I hope not. Dont want to risk an unnecessary injury

      • UKEagle99

I’m not typing after the half, worried about my regular season finger.

        • ReggieWhite

          lol

  • ReggieWhite

I actually want to see this D on the field more. Our offence will be fine, theres too many weapons for it to fail. The D is the bigger question mark

  • Pennguino

Good stop by the D on a short field. They gave up a little but Jax only came away with 3 points

  • ReggieWhite

Jacksonville is really shutting this run game down

    • RIP illa

Their D-Line’s not a bunch of pushovers. Hopefully our line gets something going.

  • cliff henny

looks like a much more conventional offense. wonder if kelly had enough of showing his spread.

  • Richard Colton

    classic form tackle by DeSean

    • cliff henny

that was bad…jeeze, the defender wasnt even on top of him.

  • Mr. Wu

    oh lord

  • Pennguino

    HORRIBLE decision. Welcome back Vick

  • UKEagle99

There it is! Back foot, falling away….

  • ReggieWhite

Either their D line is dominant or our O Line is going to continue where it left off last year and get beaten like a drum

  • #7

Here they come! They’ve been waiting for this lol

  • RIP illa

Jesus Vick. Garbage throw. Take the sack!!! I hate when he tries to make something out of nothing in situations like that. Save the hero ball for the 4th quater when were down and are making a playoff push!!!

    • Andy124

You’ve just been waiting for your chance. You’re such a hater. /s

      • RIP illa

IKR!!! Seriously tho…I can’t stand hero ball when it’s not warranted! My biggest gripe w/ him!

  • Mr. Wu

    wtf was that??

  • ReggieWhite

    Oh dear.

  • Pennguino

    BAD angle by 28

    • cliff henny

      yup, wolff

  • #7

    Yep bad throw

  • UKEagle99

Better now than week 1. #coachemup!

  • Pennguino

10 points off of TO’s….and counting

  • Richard Colton

Let’s not overreact, this is a 15 win team we’re playing against

    • Pennguino

      bwahahaha…

      • Richard Colton

        seriously, they’ve won 15 games in 3 years…powerhouse

  • #7

Next play mentality for the offense

  • Pennguino

Great return. Man I wish he had speed

    • UKEagle99

      I wish I had some speed…

  • Mr. Wu

seems like D Johnson hesitates on his breakaways

    • cliff henny

he doesnt have top end speed. quick laterally, but not straight ahead

  • cliff henny

hey, this is what we thought…we give them up, but he we come right back

  • Mr. Wu

    DAYUMMM! hahaha
    go 81

    • Pennguino

      DAYUMMM STRAIGHT

    • UKEagle99

He could lose an arm and still play!

      • Richard Colton

Avant would catch the ball with his teeth

  • Heemy224

Please do not overreact on every bad play. Bad plays will happen. Allow for some learned. I gotta feeling the overreaction will be at an all time high this yr. smh

  • RIP illa

    2 on Kelce?

    • UKEagle99

Quite likely, Vick won’t throw him under the bus though

      • RIP illa

        True

  • ReggieWhite

    Shades of the 2012 season…

    • Pennguino

Naaa. We are still 2 TO’s short for this half. There is still time though :(

    • Richard Colton

      we still have two timeouts

    • RIP illa

Hey didn’t you say not to overreact?! Lol

  • Pennguino

Way to bail out the team BB

  • ReggieWhite

Is Chip toying with us. Surely this is not the same offence he is going to run week 1. Its too conventional, not Chip’s MO

    • UKEagle99

Seems that way. I’d need to watch it again… Or wait for Sheil’s breakdown :-)

      • cliff henny

as conventional as kelly gets. basic passing plays.

    • ReggieWhite

The plays seem conventional, and the speed seems slowed down. Smart move if he is hiding his playbook, especially with cutdowns coming.

  • RIP illa

    Hell yes Cox

  • Pennguino

    FLETCH!

  • #7

Avant might catch 80 balls this year

  • UKEagle99

    Come on! Face mask

  • cliff henny

in the immortal words of frank ricard…RIP HIS HEAD OFF!

  • ReggieWhite

Someone on the return team better lay out the Punter next time

    • UKEagle99

Surely one of the cheerleaders could lay the punter?

      • cliff henny

        me first

      • ReggieWhite

What if the punter doesn’t kick that way?

        • Richard Colton

in that case, I’m the punter

  • Mr. Wu

    RUN THE BALL!! hahaha
    sorry flashback

    • 1972

were passing way too much this game. this cant be the offense we’ll be seeing in the regular season

  • RIP illa

    Sloppy 1st!

    • cliff henny

still put up 16. too much passing. wont see this %, will be using much more shady

      • RIP illa

Yeah probably right. I just hate how the line was last year and wanted them to bounce back in a extreme opposite direction. They showed that a little, for both QBs the 1st two games of PS but now they’re looking like Cutler’s line! I may be too worried but I’m hoping for a lot better come the season.

      • #7

        Yep that is the hope

    • UKEagle99

      Better than sloppy seconds :-P

      • Richard Colton

        no he didn’t

      • RIP illa

Hilarious. You, good sir, get comment of the night! Yes shut it down…it’s over!!!

  • UKEagle99

Please tell me the Jag-wars D-line was the one and only bright spot on their team?

    • Richard Colton

they were worse than us in every facet of the game last year.

      • UKEagle99

        Except D line right?

        • Richard Colton

they signed Babin when we cut him

          • cliff henny

            see casey’s big hit?

          • Richard Colton

nope, I was too busy ordering my Barwin jersey

          • Andy124

            This just doesn’t get old.

          • cliff henny

please tell me you orded it spelled…berwyn

          • Richard Colton

            Buhrwin

          • cliff henny

            i like it…looks german!

          • Richard Colton

yours was Welsh. Berwyn? I’d have to mail it to UK Eagle in Cardiff to get it authenticated.

          • cliff henny

meant yours. think i’m the only german down here in SC

          • UKEagle99

I’ll jog over to Wales for you, the UK is teeny tiny, Wales is a bit hilly though and they talk funny.

          • UKEagle99

And a genuine Welsh version would be Bahwin

  • Pennguino

Really??? You just try and throw it up in desperation. Another horrible decision. Lucky it was down by contact. Chip has to be really rethinking his decision. But he is stuck with it for the first few games

    • #7

Mr play by play man Pennguino. Every single throw is critiqued lol. Interested to see the Nick Foles commentary. My guess is it will be positive no matter the results

      • Andy124

Well, I know mine will. :)

  • UKEagle99

I’d rather this than we steam roll them. Lions fans are probably booking their Superbowl tickets.

    • cliff henny

like us last yr after 4-0 PS? just never know what the coaches are trying or looking for.

      • UKEagle99

Yup. If 20% of what I have heard about Chip is true, he’s working on something whilst showing nothing.

  • Pennguino

    Recap:
Drive 1: 4 and out, 21 yards, sack
    Drive 2: 5 and out, 22 yards, Off-Holding
    Drive 3: 11 plays, 75 yards FG (45 Yards)
Drive 4: From INT on JAX 21– 2 plays, TD
Drive 5: 7 plays, 50 yards, Vick INT
Drive 6: 61 yard return– 8 plays, 36 yards, Vick Fumble, FG (31yds)
Drive 7: Good return +15 Face mask– 4 plays, 3 yards, Vick Sack, FG (45 yds)

    • UKEagle99

      Good work

      • Pennguino

        thanks

    • cliff henny

      41 plays…that’s good

      • UKEagle99

Where’s the time of possession :-P

        • cliff henny

you TOSA? time of standing around

          • UKEagle99

            Thats the one!

          • cliff henny

he’s 100% right on that. it’s plays, not how long. if everyone runs plays at same speed, then it’s TOP.

          • UKEagle99

You got my initial sarcasm right?

    • Andy124

Thanks for that, painful as it is to read.

  • cliff henny

    game over…have a good night…cheney is in

  • UKEagle99

    All Second team D in?

    • RIP illa

      Yup

  • RIP illa

2nd team or not…this is ridiculous!!!

  • UKEagle99

Curry! I’m rooting for this guy

  • Andy124

    Damn Boykin.

  • Pennguino

    94 McCoy not looking good.

    • cliff henny

yeah our 4th, and maybe 3rd olb is not on roster. along with 5th cb and safety. what’s scary is maybe 2 each in those positions will be signed after teams cut to 53

      • RIP illa

McCoy has played well in the 1st 2 preseason games. A rough series or 2 in this one should not change his roster standing. I still would like us to add another OLB tho!

        • cliff henny

on d…only 10 guys are safe. allen, on down, better be renting. we knew this though.

      • Pennguino

Yea, probably 3-4 signings after cut downs

  • #7

    Let’s go Vinny Curry

  • ReggieWhite

They need to see who’s gonna survive cut down. A lot of these guys arent going to be on the team

    • Pennguino

Opening 3 QTR is to see if a challenger is moving up to the ones. The rest will be bubble spots for the rest of the games.

  • RIP illa

That is the dumbest piece of officiating I’ve seen in awhile. So it’s ruled a catch and PI called. Jax declines…you then let them accept…then let Chip challenge the ruling on the field?! WHAAAAAT!!!!

    • Andy124

They got it right in the end, including not charging us with a challenge or TO. That’s good officiating. Mistakes happen. It’s all about how you handle them. They done good.

  • UKEagle99

After reviewing the play… We admit we were watching the cheerleaders.

    • RIP illa

That I can understand..I take back what I said earlier!

  • Pennguino

Pick play all the way. Rubbed out the defender and cleared the route

  • UKEagle99

    Go Eagles!

  • UKEagle99

Running at Babin, who would have thought?

  • cliff henny

i’m loving the 12 yd pitch and catch out to d-jax…easy money all day

  • UKEagle99

    Sigh

  • Pennguino

    Need a replay

    • UKEagle99

Polk is making a play for #2 at this rate

      • cliff henny

brown does have extra giddy, but that fumble was terrible. if he could just hang onto the f’n ball

      • anon

they’ve both fumbled, i think bb thought he had a td. but agree

  • ReggieWhite

    @#!$%@$#^@$%&

    • Richard Colton

the real Reggie never talked like that

      • ReggieWhite

The real Reggie is in a better place.

        • Richard Colton

          Canton. Amen big man.

        • cliff henny

playing d-end in philly instead of GB?

          • RIP illa

            Hey man…you’ve gone too far!
            Lol…I had that same thought.

          • cliff henny

makes me ill seeing him in gb jersey.

          • RIP illa

Don’t even get me started. I was a kid and cried and threw a tantrum when I found out!!! My mom thought I was going crazy!!!

  • RIP illa

Damn…just when I was about to praise him!

    According to Pennguino tho…’That’s Vick’s fault!’ :-)

    • Pennguino

      Give it a rest dude

      • RIP illa

Just playing w/ you lil guy…hence the smiley face! Have a beer and relax bro! :-)

        • Pennguino

          hehehehe

    • #7

      Lmao. Pennguino youmean well..I think

    • Andy124

Are you trying to imply that it WASN’T Vick’s fault? psh.

  • anon

On a bright side that was a pretty effortless series. That said 3 games 6 turnovers.

    • anon

      7 turnovers..

      • cliff henny

fact is, you can coach out mistakes (brown) you cant coach in talent. but daaaaaaaamn, hang onto the ball kid!

  • Birdbrain77

Really Brown?! I mean you are a conundrum! Special talent but you can’t hold onto the ball!

  • RIP illa

Really another corner bites the dust. Damn.

    • cliff henny

whitley…who cares, besides his family…sorry, but true

  • Pennguino

bwahahahaa. The Jagoff commentator said Boykin was inconsistent during camp and is getting a look at in the slot.

  • Token

I just dont see a large difference between the Andy Reid Eagles and the Chip Kelly Eagles. Other than smoothies and they try to snap the ball faster. Tonights offense looked very much like last year.

    Vick is Vick.

Ive seen very few players cure a fumbling problem like Bryce Brown has. And Tiki was one of them, but he was very intelligent, Brown not so much.

  • UKEagle99

I’m having to suffer Jags commentary over here and they are very pleased with the evening.

  • anon

sanchez looks like he broke a rib

    • ReggieWhite

      Which Sanchez?

      • Andy124

        Dirty

  • anon

I’m only comforted tonight by the fact that the Patriots, Falcons, Ravens also got routed this week. So maybe all good teams suck week 3.

  • Line didn’t look good at all for much of the game

  • Pennguino

Bad gamble by Poyer. Dive for the ball but did not secure the tackle.

  • anon

    anyone see jeff maehl tonight?

  • Pennguino

Looked like a hand was on the line

    • RIP illa

      It definitely was! Touchback!!!

    • UKEagle99

As a coach, you want to practice this. No challenge incoming.

  • UKEagle99

Good situation for the Eagles O now, at the 1.

    • Pennguino

      Yep. Good pucker factor time

  • Pennguino

Thats my friends is an up tempo drive. Buried at the 1 and drives the length of the field. Lover/hater. He done good

    • anon

      looked effortless

  • anon

Glad CK went for the win.

  • ReggieWhite

Remember when people said to start Kafka over Vick…

    • RIP illa

      Literally…LOL…cause I do!

    • UKEagle99

I knew that name rang a bell :-P

  • RIP illa

Will somebody please pick up Matthews Jock Strap!!!

  • Devilock

I said this 2 weeks ago….my biggest fear is that Vick CANNOT run a controlled, consistent offense…it’s just not in his DNA. We’ll see when the regular season starts.

    • 1972

not to sound like a vick defender, but where were u the first two preseason games??

      • Devilock

he ran a good offense in the second game, but the first was quick strike. Vick is a quick strike, big play QB. not a tempo setter…

  • JasonOs

Nick Foles looks more comfortable running the fast pace offense. Not only more comfortable but more efficiently.

  • Jason Hall

Im not making any excuses but Mike Vick was taking snaps under the center too many times compared to that usual shotgun snap. Chip Kelly is hiding something lets critique that first game not this preseason game. Because Brady, Flacco and Manning wasn’t that good in their 3rd preseason game. My main gripe is that defense they need to squash that 3/4 fast.

  • 1972

We didn’t run the ball effectively enough tonight. the line was bad and vick was a little erratic. he dropped back to many times for me.. that’s not a chip Kelly style offense

    • #7

Can’t wait to watch it for myself

    • He only dropped back 23 times – that’s not a lot. The line could blog a paper bag and he also ran for a good amount of yardages and a few first downs.

As far as Kelly’s offense that’s what Foles ran – I think he keeps his offense out of the first half for a reason. ‘Cause it ALWAYS reverts to what you think of more as “Kelly’s offense” in the second half.

      • 1972

those runs weren’t designed, they were pass plays that broke down. I think chip called too many passes because McCoy was getting stuffed early

      • Dutch

You and I previously agreed 23 through 2.5 Quarters may be his limit if not to much, but because the run game was not functioning, and the interior line was being dismantled we loss the battle of the trenches and we must win the LOS to have any chance for a run game.
Jags did a good job controlling the line of scrimmage where by negating the run game, and Shady was only playing limited snaps. That was a good game to check the Eagles character.
Here I trust Chip designed the plays to have the effect they had last night because it opened the door to a few other vital concerns. I think they did well in a funky game.

        • “You and I previously agreed 23 through 2.5 Quarters…”

You’re right. I wasn’t looking at it from the perspective of how many quarters he played…but you do want to keep him (ideally) to 35 or less pass attempts a game with 30ish being ideal – so that was quite a bit of passing in 2.5 quarters.

On another note: I liked that he ran smartly. Got down in one instance. Got out of bounds in others. That made me VERY happen. He seems serious about protecting the ball and himself.

    • Chali

Agreed… the run game was nullified by good defense.. fumbles.. and flags.. and the pass plays looked like Mornhinweg plays.. this game was funky.

  • Damfino

All this Vick vs Foles drivel left old behind almost as soon as it began, get over it all of you.

    • #7

      If only that was possible…

  • Toms river dave

Dump Vick. He can’t read even in the simplified offence. Foles is theman

    • Eagles4Life

      Are you high?

    • MAC

      Troll

  • Toms river dave

We need a qb who is a tactician, not an athlete pretending to be qb

  • anon

I do prefer Vick but he needs to work on that. We need to mold Foles and Vick together, someone that can check down and throw the deep ball. There were definitely check downs that Vick could have tossed to instead of holding ball and taking sacks.

  • Scott J610

We should highlight Brown next week then trade him to Pittsburgh. We need as many draft picks as we can get so we can move up and get a QB.

  • anon

I really think that Chip was trying to do a couple of things: 1) Get J Peters snaps at o-line, lots of passing plays, etc., 2) chip wanted to get Vick on tape when the pocket breaks down — i think Vick will get lots of teach time on that this week. It’s clear that the offense can move — i don’t think Kelly is concerned about that.

  • Scott J610

This preseason is like a condensed version of the Michael Vick experience of 2010 – 2011. Lights it up, wins the starting job, then transforms back into Atlanta Vick.

    • James

They never ran the ball, so its hard for any qb to be effective

      • Scott J610

        Nice excuse.

  • Adam

Vick is what he is. Nothing has changed and nothing is going to change. Chip just needs to game plan around this, and I have no doubt he can.

  • Damfino

BTW, after watching both of them a lot tonight I think Johnson outplayed Joekel easily.

    • Dutch

That in my opinion was the only story line of the Game, how Lane Johnson would do against Babin a more than credible pass rusher in the NFL
We got no major injuries, Peters and Johnson would look comfortable and hold up well under the Jags attack and both exceeded my expectations for the night.
Now the Guards and Kelce on the other hand, they got rocked all night. It’s going to be interesting to see how they respond to getting their tails whipped.

      • Richard Colton

the only storyline? how about how good Barwin looked last night? eat a little crow on that one.

  • Vick was the second leading rusher. That’s not good. lol

    • James

You do realize they hardly ran the ball when Vick was in right?

      • Yes I do. I also was joking hence the “lol”

      • Andy124

lol, dude’s so hardcore he’s arguing with one of the premier Vick lovers about not loving Vick enough. LMAO.

        • James

Im not hardcore anything. You are just butt hurt that I proved your flawed reasoning

          • RIP illa

Jesus man…You just don’t get it, do you?!

          • James

hehe scroll down there big guy. soon you will understand.

    • cliff henny

why? he looked great running it. only the most vick hater hater dislikes seeing him him…the guy is maybe the most athletic guy in nfl still, at 33.

  • #7

Geez I just saw the highlights and Vick had one bad throw, yet for the preseason he’s completed over 70% of his passes. We had over 400 yards of offense.

    Somebody help me here

    • See…I told you folk were acting crazy…

    • PhillyTrue

1)an unpressured Vick overthrew an open Celek for what would have been an easy TD.
2)He threw a pick when he should have eaten it
      3) He tried to toss one up for grabs while getting sacked
4)He tried to pick up the fumbled snap (his fumble) instead of just falling on it.

Dude played like 2 1/2 quarters, so that’s 2 miscues per quarter or one every other possession…

Not trying to bag on your comment but there was a little more there than “one bad throw”. Mistakes in the NFL will kill any chance at winning.

      • #3 happened at the end of the half with no time left – seriously not that big a deal.

#4 Was a bad snap by Kecie which has been happening all camp. Not a Vick issue.

I realize now unless Vick plays mistake free ball then it’s not going to matter. Certain parts of the fan base will complain, complain and complain some more.

        • #7

He must be flawless or it will be “I told you so”

I just hope that he’s able to block that negativity out

        • nicksaenz1

So it was Foles’ fault for the mishandled Kelce snaps against Carolina, which was undoubtedly factored in when the QB battle was going on, but when it happens to Vick a week later they’re Kelce’s fault? Interesting.

          • johnr

The one last night was high and outside. The ones in Carolina game didn’t look that far outside the strike zone. But it does concern me that we are a shotgun offense and we can’t hike the ball. I am halfway joking about this but can Dorenbos play center?

          • Uh…those weren’t mishandled Kecie snaps. Nick Foles SAID he wasn’t looking (was looking at the defense) and bobbled the snap.

The one last night was high and to the left. There was some speculation that it was supposed to be a direct sanp to the RB.

            No conspiracy theories. Sorry.

          • nicksaenz1

I must have missed where he said that or where it was established that Kelce has had a camp-long issue with snapping in the shotgun.

          • Then you haven’t been reading. ‘Cause botched snaps by Kecie were happening quite a bit.

          • #7

If I remember correctly, those snaps didn’t determine the competition

      • Dutch

Kelce has a miserable night he literally had his head handed to him, Mathis and Herremen also.
On the int, Herremen was actually dumped into Vick’s lap by the Jags Defensive Tackle, thus no follow through on the throw.
However, given the stat lines across the league from other 10 year plus Qbs Vick was more than competitive in an winning effort.
You and anyone else who doesn’t think Vick’s going to throw at the very least 10 interceptions but no more than 14 in 2013 are sadly mistaken. You’ll be here every week while Foles is tucked away on the bench crying about mis- cues.
But Vick did no worse in throwing an interception this week than any other stellar QB in the league and to end it all he won when some of them did not.
No need to panic, walk back from that ledge.

        • #7

          Well said

        • It’s been a REALLY bad week for top-shelf QBs. Some are showing problems that I think will follow them through to the season (bad OL, youing/inexperienced receivers) – others just had a bad night. But yeah…it’s been brutal for QBs. Defenses have had a great week. lol

      • #7

So Vick is supposed to be a machine? No incompletions…. just perfect every game. I saw P.Manning through a bad INT himself.

You guys are being ridiculous…. and it’s the preseason

  • cliff henny

dont forget, 3rd preseason game at home for a team that cant get fans to stadium. jags were playing hard. they arent eagles, who can o-4 for next 30 yrs and still sellout. often look at PS records, it;s crappy sall market teams putting up nice records only to get steamrolled.

  • Rick H

The offensive line had some problems tonight. 2 fumbes ( 1 fumble special teams). However neither fumble was on Vick or the offensive line play for that matter either it changes Vick. I am a Foles guy but agreed and accepted Vick won the job. What is really alarming is how quickly Vick goes back to Pop Warner football mode when the Eagles get off to a rocky start. It is even more alarming that he did it in a pre season game where for the first time they threw a “little bit” of a real defensive scheme against him. Defensive pressure makes Vick abort the game plan almost immediately. It is in his psyche! What do you think the Redskins are going to do to him??? It is not a good feeling. And lastly I see #7(commenter) acting as Vick’s defense lawyer on ever coment made which states the obvious.
    Panic much #7???

    • Adam

How dare you criticize him. It was obviously the lines fault. Or Chips. Or the running backs. But never Vick.

      • The INT was Vick’s fault. Just like Foles. The line was to blame for the pressure, but then they compounded it with a bad decision.

What other issue did you have with Vick’s play? The line wasn’t blocking so the RBs were getting stuffed – the line wasn’t blocking so he ran for a decent amount of yardage and didn’t take any unnecessary hits in the process.

What more did you want exactly?

        • Adam

Oh I’ve see what I need to see. I saw the same Mike Vick I’ve been watching for the past few years.

But hey, Kudos to Vick on the pick. I’m not sure i’ve ever seen someone throw an interception when you’re parallel to the ground. Impressive.

          • Andy124

            That’s just funny.

          • chali

I don’t think you have either.. you know.. since it wasn’t an interception on that play but hey that is a funny pic.

    • What?

    • RIP illa

That was a pretty good post. I would say that I don’t think he aborted the game plan, since everyone and even Sheil and Tim said that the game plan for when he was in was awkward and mor Reid like. He pretty much just tried to keep the play alive or avoid the sack. Would you rather have him just sit in the pocket and eat sacks all day while he waits for his WRs to get open? Or just throw the ball away all the time and take back his 53 yards rushing? With the exception of his hero ball antics on the pick, I would rather him do what he did in those situations of pressure involving the particular offensive scheme that was called for him. If he had been running the scheme called for Foles and played the way he did, then I would have had a problem.

      • Rick H

Interesting there are already five reporters articles out which focus on Vick’s “shaky outing”. There must be truth to it. Plus the plan for Foles or Vick or Barkley is to run the same offense. Panic seems to change that for Vick no matter what offense or coach he is playing for or offense he is playing in.

        • “Interesting there are already five reporters articles out which focus on Vick’s “shaky outing”. There must be truth to it.”

          Depends on the reporters.

          • Richard Colton

Vick didn’t play poorly. He looked good, when he had time to pass. The O-line had serious issues in protection on the first two drives. After that, they looked good. Aside from that, Vick had one bad pass – Vick can run this offense.

          • I’m good with the offense and the defense actually. They only gave up 24. They are pretty decent against the pass. The run they need some work on – but overall – no major concerns.

It was a good night over all. B-

          • Richard Colton

safety play was bad – Allen got benched, Wolff came in and gave up that 60 yd TD. Entire secondary was terrible with the exception of Boykin. On offense, our O-line was a donut tonight (empty in the middle). Where was Kelce, Mathis, Herremans?

          • Adam

Secondary wasn’t as bad as you make it sound. Blown coverage on the first TD and Wolff taking a bad angle on the rushing TD. Other than that they were alright. Williams and Fletcher had tight coverage for most of the game.

          • Token

Nearly every QB in the league looks ok when they have time. I hate that excuse,”Vick looked good when he had time”. This league is about what you do under pressure. Nobody should be surprised about what they saw last night, hes still the same guy. You all fell for it, again.

Holding the ball and playing sandlot football isnt what Kelly is supposed to be about. If it is I may as well check out on this season already. I thought it would atleast be different and fun to watch regardless of wins/losses. Last night was like watching last season.

          • “Holding the ball and playing sandlot football isnt what Kelly is supposed to be about.”

Yes – sandlot football ’cause your oline broke down and instead of taking the sack you run for 53 yards on 7 carries and a few first downs.

            The HORROR. How DARE he.

“If it is I may as well check out on this season already.”

            Please do.

        • Chali

Because Vick is always a popular topic.. did you see the other comparable starting QB stats on other teams?? Vick is media so you will see reports on him used and abused.

        • RIP illa

Yeah just like several reporters reported that Foles would easily win the QB comp…must be true!!!

What plan??? Glad you got the inside info. Yet if that is true then it just goes to show that the the old adage is true…Plans Change. Cause those two offenses that Foles and Vick ran looked completely different and had a totally different tempo!

    • Dutch

How do you know he abandoned the game plan without having access to that information?
You have no idea what the game plan was, but none of the plays run in the first have were read option plays. This looked like common crossing patterns, and base formation. Vick hardly ever lined up In the shotgun or pistol he worked the entire portion of the game he was in under center. Where had you seen that before?
This looked like the most vanilla plays we have seen all summer from Chip, and I don’t blame him if that is what he done. There wasn’t one bubble screen run until deep in the second quarter.
I already believe opponents have to much tape on the Kelly game plan for my liking and definitely support playing these two meaningless games and not giving opponents much to study in hopes of preparing for the Eagles.

    • #7

Looks like you guys are panicking. You guys are disecting every Vick throw.

  • Jason Hall

Let me give you doubters and bashers some stats of starters. Brady 16/24 0tds 1int, Flacco 18/24 1td 2int, E Manning 8/20 0td, P Manning 25/34 1td 1int, Ryan 11/19 0td, Wilson 11/17 0td 2int. Lets bench them all for not performing, holding the ball to long and throwing interceptions. LMBO some of you guys aren’t even fans thinking that Vick was supposed to be perfect.

  • Jason Hall

Man can we please scrap this 34 defense

    • anon

3-4 is the only D where you can effectively guard against the read option by disguising coverage. I understand hesitancy to make the switch but i think its necessary given where the league is going.

      • Jason Hall

But how many teams are running the read option, their RB averaged 10 ypg on us

  • Maggie

Missed game, came here, found a bunch of people I’ve never heard of before, saying negative things. Thought the team LOST at first!

    • Richard Colton

it felt like a loss, bc the first team looked lost against the worst team in the league. the pre-season doesn’t count, but if they play like this all year, we’re a 4 win team. But hey, the final score says we won, so the fans in British Columbia are happy. We don’t play “friendlies” in American Football, sweetie.

      • Chali

I wouldn’t call them the worse team in the NFL with Gus Bradley as the HC which will transform that team.. The defense alone changed our scheme and nullified our run game. Gus was a beast DC in Seattle.

  • Maggie

For all the whiners and all the twits calling other people “trash”, when they are just trying to earn a living, here’s a bit of news you seem to be silent on. Vince Young was just signed by the Green Bay Packers to back up AARON RODGERS!! One of the best! Guess maybe some of the people running teams in the NFL might actually know MORE THAN YOU!!

  • Phil Aay

“He held on to the ball too long and made questionable decisions”…Hey @SheilKapadia…anyway that you can bring up and actually show any legitimate plays on the All 22 tape to support this observation? I watched the same game and i didnt see where this was the case to describe Vicks play for the night.

    • Andy124

All 22 not available for preseason games.

  • SLBAttitudeSpoofer

Probably not much to do with anything but … do any of our five QBs begin the season as a Bill or Jet?

  • DunedinEagle

I’m glad Chip made the foolish decision to ride with 7. He cant go back because of the locker room hoods that worship the starship and he will now get what he deserves just like Reid, Reeves etc. and I love the Brady, Flacco, Manning pre season stat comparison post. As if 7’s has ever won anything. All I can do is shake my head. Finally get rid of Reid and we are still stuck with the same old same old crap.

    • Richard Colton

The “Starship” nickname is already taken. Starship 12.

      • DunedinEagle

        Not if you ask Chucky.

  • atlvickfan

As much as the Jeff McLanes of the world want to paint the narrative that Vick struggled in this game, he finished with 65% completions and 8 yards per attempt. If that’s what he does when he’s erratic and struggling, he’s going to be fine. The pick was terrible, but he still managed to move the offense down the field.

    • Richard Colton

guess the game wasn’t on in Atlanta. Vick regressed in game three. give credit to the Jags D, but Vick was doing some (not all) of the things that have held him back.

      • atlvickfan

        I stream the games online.
