The Term ‘Master Bedroom’ Is on Its Way Out!

In Washington, D.C., where justice comes first, the term “master bedroom” is being phased out of floor plans due to its negative connotations: slavery, on the one hand; maleness, on the other. According to Gawker, “architects and contractors are looking for a more accurate and more politically correct replacement.”

And yet so far, the ideas are rather pallid. Gawker cites “owner’s suite,” which we’ve seen in high-end properties in our area; owner’s bedroom, which we’ve never come across; and “mastre bedroom,” which is quite obviously ridiculous.

Anyone have better ideas?
