Taney Dragons Parade Set for Wednesday

Little League team will be celebrated along Market and Broad streets.

The details for Wednesday’s parade celebrating the Taney Dragons Little League baseball team have been settled. CBS Philly reports:

The city announced the parade will begin at 20th and Market Streets and travel east on Market Street, go around the southwest corner of City Hall and travel south on Broad Street down to FDR Park at Broad and Pattison Streets.

Officials say there will be two stops along the parade route. The first stop is at the Kimmel Center, where the little leaguers will be serenaded by the Philly POPS!

The second stop is at Broad Street and Washington Avenue where the Mummers will perform.

The parade will end with a rally in FDR Park near the south side baseball fields.

The parade begins at 2 p.m.

PARADE DETAILS!: City of Philadelphia announces details for parade celebrating champion Taney Dragons

Philadelphia, August 25, 2014 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter and City officials announced plans for a Center City parade on Wednesday, August 27th to celebrate Philadelphia’s own Taney Dragons, 2014 Mid-Atlantic Little League champions. The Dragons made it to the U.S. Championship semi-final round of the 2014 Little League World Series, becoming the third best Little League team in the nation.

The parade will begin at 20th & Market Streets in Center City at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. The parade route will travel east on Market Street, go around the southwest corner of City Hall, and travel south on Broad Street down to FDR Park at Broad and Pattison Streets. There will be two stops along the parade route: the first at the Kimmel Center where the team will be serenaded by the Philly POPS!, and the second at Broad Street & Washington Avenue where Mummers will perform.

The parade will culminate with a rally and speaking program in FDR Park near the south side baseball fields, close to Interstate-95. After the parade, the Taney Dragons will travel to Citizens Bank Park where Mayor Nutter and the Philadelphia Phillies will host a pre-game tribute for the Little League team on the field.
