Ed Snider Is Really Mad About Claude Giroux’s Olympic Snub

"It's a farce."

Rich Hoffman at the Daily News reports that Flyers chairman Ed Snider is really mad about Claude Giroux’s exclusion from the Canadian Olympic team, saying he “hates” the games:

“I mean, I hate ’em,” the chairman said.

Giroux, who was been classy through his disappointment, was classy again after the latest snub. Snider, though, was plainly furious.

How furious?

“It’s a farce,” Snider said. “He’s one of the best players in the league. It’s ridiculous. He’s better than half the guys on that team.”

It’s not just the Giroux snub, though. Snider doesn’t like breaking up the NHL season for the Olympics, particularly when the league seems to get no benefit from it. “It’s not good for our league. It changes the momentum. Everything about it is wrong.”
