There’s Only One Petraeus Cock-Up Pat Meehan Is Interested In

U.S. Rep. Pat Meehan, the Delco Republican who sits on the House Oversight Committee investigating the Obama administration’s response to the 9/11/12 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya, says he doesn’t think the Petraeus/Broadwell scandal will garner much interest during hearings this week, but he damn well wants to hear from the former CIA director anyway.

“I don’t know if you’ll see any great amount of pressing if he’s able to demonstrate that nothing untoward happened as a result of that relationship,” Meehan tells the Inquirer‘s Jonathan Tamari. But Petraeus’s role in the constantly changing story following the attack remains a vital concern:

“It’s clear that there was a fair bit of real time information that was available to people back in Washington in the position to make decisions, and the narratives seem to be directed in different places — the State department, the CIA and the administration itself — not always being on exactly the same page. To me, personally, that is the greatest concern as to whether we have any kind of dysfunctionality in the relationship among those three entities because in a very dangerous world we need them to be working effectively and in coordination.”
