douglass casey grindrIn April we reported on a disturbing incident in which a Canadian man visiting Philly was raped and robbed in a hotel room by a stranger he met on Grindr. An arrest has finally been made in the case, and the alleged assailant, 26-year-old Douglass Casey, has been slapped with all kinds of charges. From the police report:

    “deviant sexual intercourse”?

Indecent Deviant Sexual Intercourse? Really? What is this 1780?

    • Brian Scott

it’s a term for rape. It’s gender neutral.

    • CHRISPHISH

      No it’s 2014. Gender-neutral.
Pennsylvania has repealed its sodomy statutes incrementally. In 1972, legislation legalized consensual sodomy for heterosexual married couples. In 1980, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruling in Commonwealth v. Bonadio found Pennsylvania’s sodomy law unconstitutional as violating the equal protection guarantees of both the state and federal constitutions.Pennsylvania finally repealed its remaining sodomy laws in 1995.

As opposed to Decent Deviant Sexual Intercourse I suppose? It’s the awkward terminology that I was pointing out. I have an idea. Let’s just call it rape.

Yes, it is evident that Grindr is a “hook-up” site; and one must be very careful who is allowed into your abode, still this gives Mr. Casey no right to have committed such atrocities against another human. In my opinion, Mr. Casey, should be put under the jail for a long time in order to contemplate his horrendous actions. As for the victim, thank you for coming forward and going to the police to see such a monster suffer the consequences of his actions, before he picked another victim. Also thank you to the Philadelphia Police for their tenacity in apprehending this criminal.
