Too bad the restaurant has already announced it is scaling back its menu and hours.

Bon Appetit has announced its annual Hot 10 list of the best new restaurants in America and Philadelphia’s South Philly Barbacoa placed 6th on the list. Deputy editor Andrew Knowlton and senior editor Julia Kramer traveled more than 5,700 miles to more than 40 cities to create this list of the best new restaurants in the country.

Ironically, Benjamin Miller just announced that he and his wife, Cristina Martinez are scaling back service. The weekday tortas (which was featured in Bon Appetit’s piece on the restaurant) will be dropped and it will become weekends only starting in September. Miller and his wife cite aiming for a better work/life balance for the changes.

In September hours will become Fridays from 9 a.m. to sellout; Saturdays and Sundays: 5 a.m. to sellout.

For the rest of August the hours are Tuesday through Thursday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays: 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. So get there soon for a torta. But rest assured, the barbacoa isn’t going anywhere.
