You Guys Wanna See Star Wars: The Force Awakens For Free This Weekend?

Of course you do. That’s just a ridiculous question. I mean, who wouldn’t want to check out one of the biggest movies of the year for free?

Well here’s the good news: You can do exactly that this weekend. On Saturday, April 30, they’re going to be showing Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the Market & Shops At Comcast Center at 1pm. A matinee showing, more or less. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon.

And there’s even more good news, too.

The event is going to be BYO, which means you get to drink while watching the movie (no movie ever made isn’t improved by the addition of adult beverages), and the vendors are all going to be open, too, so in addition to getting to watch The Force Awakens, for free, with booze, you’ll be able to round out the experience with snacks from DiBruno Bros, a cheesesteak from Mike’s, pastries from Termini Brothers, some sushi, whatever.

Sure, it’s not going to be a perfect viewing experience. It ain’t 3D or perfect stereo or anything like that. Basically, it’s watching Star Wars in a basement. But it’s watching Star Wars in a basement for free, with good food and drinks and a crowd of like-minded folks to share the experience with, and that’s pretty awesome.

I’m guessing that this is going to be a big thing, so my suggestion? Show up early and in a good mood. May the force be with you.

Oh, and by the way? If Star Wars isn’t quite geeky enough for you, the Ritz at the Bourse is doing a midnight showing of Akira tonight. Tickets sold out so quick, that they just added a second showing. You can check out all the details over on The Ticket.
