Maglio’s Sausage Looks to Open Market

Maglio’s Sausage Co., the 67-year-old sausage company that has been supplying Philadelphia with tube-shaped meats for decades, has announced its first food market, set to open December 3.

Transforming the 3rd and Pattison location in South Philly where Maglio’s sausage production once took place (they’ve moved the hard work to a new facility) into “The Market at Maglio’s,” the sausage company will soon be selling not only their finest meats–like sweet and spicy sausage, breakfast sausage and meatballs–but also meals such as sausage and peppers and eggplant parmigiana. The Market has also announced they’ll have a deli counter serving Dietz & Watson products, an olive bar and fresh baked bread trucked in from Cacia’s Bakery. There’ll be potato salad and coleslaw for sides, as well as cannolis, cakes and cookies for dessert. Not bad for an old sausage factory. There’ll even be room for them to do some catering and party trays.

As for grand opening day, all we know right now is that Maglio’s will be offering free samples of sausage, cheeses, other cured meats and bread starting at 4:30 p.m. on December 3.
