Where to Work Out for Free Outdoors Every Day This Summer

If your SoulCycle addiction’s been draining your bank account, we’ve got a fix: Sprinkle a few of these free weekly workouts — Philly’s fitness scene comes with many of ’em! — in between your boutique fitness classes. Bonus: You’ll get some sunshine, too! (All of these weekly free workouts are held outdoors.)

MONDAY

What: Interval Workout at Penn Park // It’s hard to get yourself to switch up your running routine without having a personal trainer demand you do fast-paced intervals. But thanks to West Philly Runners, you can get the motivation without the price tag of trainer. Every Monday, West Philly Runners holds a 1,000-meter interval workout in Penn Park. You can sign up for their newsletter on their website to get updated information on each week’s workouts and where to meet the group in Penn Park.
When: 5:30 p.m.
Where: Penn Park, 3000 Walnut Street, University City.

TUESDAY

What: Art Museum Step Workout // Fairmount Running Club leads a variety of free group runs throughout the week, but on Tuesday nights, it’s all about the step workout. All-levels of runners are welcome to the 30 to 45-minute step and plyometric workout, and you don’t need to sign up ahead of time.
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Fairmount.

WEDNESDAY

What: Yoga on the Pier // Get in some outdoor yoga with Delaware River views. You don’t need to sign up, you can just BYO mat and get ready for some sun salutations under the sun. While we’ve got this Philly classic listed under Wednesdays, Yoga on the pier has a daily lineup classes. Yep, you can do yoga for free every day. You can check out the other class times here.
When: 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Where: Race Street Pier, Race Street & North Columbus Boulevard, Old City.

THURSDAY

What: Fishtown Beer Runners // Because it’s Thursday and you’ve earned a beer: This running group, the OGs of beer running, meets at multiple points across the city to run three to five miles to a local pub for a post-run beer. Runs are free, just bring some cash and your ID for the beer portion of the evening.
When: 7 p.m.

FRIDAY

What: November Project // The November Project’s mission is to get people across the country fit for free. The group hosts early-morning workouts, meeting at various destinations on Fridays. You can also hit up their Wednesday morning workouts; those meet at the Art Museum Steps at 6:25 a.m. Each workout is under 60 minutes, full of sweat and according to the website, full of hugs, too.
When: 6:25 a.m.

SATURDAY

What: Three Queens Yoga at the Shambles // Here’s a free outdoor yoga class that’ll be running through September 2nd. Sign up ahead of time here and head on over to the Shambles at Headhouse Square for an hour-long yoga sesh brought to you by Queen Village’s Three Queens Yoga.
When: 9 a.m.
Where: 104 Lombard Street, Society Hill.

SUNDAY

What: Chasing Trail Running Club // What better way to take advantage of summer weather than with a run through the Wissahickon? Get in a good trail run Sunday mornings with local running group Chasing Trail, no trail experience necessary, and no need to sign up. Just show up ready to enjoy nature and a feel-good run.
When: 8:30 a.m.
Where: Valley Green Inn, Wissahickon.
