Several outlets are confirming that Taylor Swift’s in Los Angeles researching the possibility of insuring her legs in case something bad happened to her while performing—and what they’re worth is kind of staggering.

The National Enquirer was the first to report that the Wyomissing native was given an insurer’s estimate of $40 million.

“It seems like a ludicrous sum, but if something was to happen to her legs, Swift wouldn’t be able to give her signature stage performances,” a source told the Enquirer. “Her $200 million career would be in big trouble.”

According to the same source, Swift was understandably taken aback by the number, but it’s nowhere near the sum some celebrities get. Mariah Carey’s gams are apparently insured for $1 billion.

“She thought her legs were possibly worth a million,” said the source. “But $40 million shocked her. She’s even a little embarrassed about it.”

Her reps are working out a decision and should come to a decision before her tour starts in May.
