Monday Obsession: The Most Covetable Bag We’ve Seen In a Long Time

What's topping our lust list this week.

Few things make me gasp out loud at my desk. They are, in no particular order:

  • discovering that a pair of wildly expensive shoes on sale for 75 percent off are still magically available in my size
  • news of a store closing (or a store opening)
  • news of a man purposely being eaten alive by an anaconda
  • truly beautiful things, like a couture dress made only for the runway, or, well, this bag.

It’s by Sara Battaglia, (whom you might know as the sister of fashion editor and stylist Giovanna Battaglia), and it mixes classic with wild. There’s the bucket shape, which we’ve all seen before and will continue to see until humans stop carrying handbags. There’s the splash of wine-red at the handle. And, like the icing on a very glamorous cake, there is the fringe. Here, fringe is maximalist, with long tassels ringing the entire bag like swishy tails. In short: Add it to your holiday list now.

Sara Battaglia Jasmine bag, $1,495 at Boyds, 1818 Chestnut Street, 215-564-9000.
