Calling All Local Fashion Designers: The Philly Mag Fashion Project is Back!

Get out those sketchbooks!

You might have seen a few unfamiliar names in last year’s fall fashion feature. Alongside household designer names like Carolina Herrera, Prada and Dries van Noten were these: Megan Swanson, Victoria Wright, Mariel Rojo, Sara Teixeira, Zoë Rosenberg, Terese Sydonna Brown, Elizabeth Labrasca, Moriamo Johnson and Latifat Obajinmi. These eight designers were part of the inaugural class of the Philly Mag Fashion Project (PMFP), and the exclusive pieces they turned out were nothing short of amazing. The winner was Sara Teixeira, who walked away with $1,000 and a huge window display at Knit Wit’s Center City store (talk about getting your name out there!).

Once again, we’re on the hunt for the best local fashion designers. We’re looking for eight designers, each of whom will design an exclusive womenswear piece for our September 2014 fashion feature. Because while the big names may be putting out some amazing collections, I think nothing is more inspiring than the work done right here in our own backyard.

Wanna be a part of it all? Just come right back here this Thursday, at 9 am, and fill out our online application. Hint: We ask you to submit a sketch of what you’d like to design; it’s got to be for fall/winter 2014 and it must fall into one of four categories—outerwear, top, bottom, dress. So get dreaming, start sketching, and I can’t wait to see what this city has in store for us.
