(Video) Unique Philly Carriage House Featured on HGTV’s You Live In What?

Take a peek inside the home of an artist.

Have you ever flipped through our monthly Habitat feature within the Property section of Philadelphia magazine just wishing you could go beyond the page and get inside some of these stunning Philly-area homes? While we can’t get you physically inside the space, we can point you to a recent airing of HGTV’s show You Live In What?, which takes you on a tour of the house of Joan Wadleigh Curran. We highlighted this home in Habitat way back in November 2011, so it’s extra special to see it on the small screen.

Wadleigh Curran worked with Philadelphia-based Metcalfe Design and Architecture to renovate what was originally three carriage houses in Center City into a three-bed, three-bath live/work studio. “For me, it’s like living in a work of art,” Wadleigh Curran says in the video. Man is she on point with that statement; it’s filled with her artistic touch and Metcalfe’s expert design.

Our favorite part: While it’s difficult to choose just one (the central staircase is a showstopper), Metcalfe kept the antique industrial skylight in the ceiling of the master bedroom, which looks so damn cool. “We found them here and there just perfect just the way they are,” says Alan Metcalfe in the video. We couldn’t agree more.

Shameless Plug:  Have you been inside (or own) a stunning space in the Philly region and think it would look amazing in our monthly Habitat feature in the magazine? We desperately want to see it! Email jjennings@phillymag.com ASAP!
