How You Can Help Us Tell the Story of #OneDayInPhilly

What does your Philadelphia look like? We want to know.

There are 1.56 million people in Philadelphia. (And 4.5 million more in our suburbs.) That means every morning when the sun rises, millions of people go about their day: Some rush to the train to get to work while others are coming off a night shift; some take their first steps while others are taking their last breaths; some wake up to a loud house while others don’t have homes at all.

We here at Philadelphia magazine are embarking on a special project that’s been in the works for months: We are going to capture the many different sides of Philadelphia in just one day — this Friday, September 21st. Our lofty goal? To make a time capsule of our region in photo form. The images will take over the entire (very special) December issue of the magazine. And while we are sending out a team of photographers and reporters that’s deeper than the entire Phillies bench, we can’t capture it all.

Which is where you come in.

If you would like to show us your Philadelphia, we want to see it. Select photos will run in the December issue or in our big online reveal. Here’s how to join in:

  • Tag @phillymag and use #OneDayInPhilly on any photos you take and post on Twitter and Instagram on Friday, September 21st (date here is key!).
  • Include some basic info about the photo in the post, like who, what, where and when.

And if you see a bunch of photographers and reporters around town, that’s us — feel free to wave and smile for the cameras!
