NWS: Tornado Watch for Philadelphia and Surrounding Counties

A "watch" is less ominous than a "warning," but the National Weather Service recommends you be on alert until 10 p.m. Monday.

Living in Philadelphia, there are certain things you never really expect to hear: that your football team just won the Super Bowl; that the schools are the fifth best in the country; and that there might just be a tornado ripping through the city.

Well, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Philadelphia and surrounding counties until 10 p.m. on Monday. Here’s what the NWS had to say (in ALL CAPS, of course, shortly after 3 p.m.):
