Conservative Free Speech Group Protesting Wharton Decision to Disinvite Indian Speaker

The conservative activist group Americans for Free Speech (along with local community members) has organized a rally at Penn to protest the decision to disinvite controversial Indian political figure Narendra Modi. Modi was initially slated to speak at the Wharton India Economic Forum; WIEF withdrew its invitation following outcry related to his suspected refusal to intervene in a series of violent anti-Muslim attacks ten years ago.

Arish Sahani, [an] organizer of the protest, said that they planned to have “four buses come in from the New York [and] New Jersey area[s]” to bring in protestors from the Indian-American community.

AFC, based in Washington, has planned the rally for March 23rd from 12-2:30 p.m. outside the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, where the WIEF forum is being held. [Daily Pennsylvanian]
