Cumberland Couples Charged In Bear Paw, Gall Bladder Smuggling Scheme
Two Cumberland County couples have been accused of smuggling bear gall bladders and paws through their area nail salons in an attempt to process the parts for medicinal purposes. Van Thi Do, Hung Quoc Pham, and Bruce and Amy Le are charged with illegally buying and selling game, and may each face a $15,000 fine along with 36 months in jail. Bladders and paws go for $100 to $150 on average, and are often dehydrated into powder and used as medicine in various Asian communities. Cue the dried bear parts legalization movement. [Metro]
