The U.S. Olympic Women’s Soccer Team won a gold medal on Thursday afternoon when they defeated Japan 2-1. South Jersey’s Carli Lloyd scored both goals—a header on a cross from Alex Morgan in the eighth minute and another on a shot from outside the box in the 54th minute. Japan managed to score a goal to cut the lead to one and had a bunch of other chances. Hope Solo had a killer save in the 82nd minute after a dangerous turnover. But, Japan’s effort still came up short.
