Wharton Dropout Makes Physicists Rich

Yuri Milner—a 50-year-old Russian-born billionaire who dropped out of Wharton’s M.B.A. program in the early ’90s—has given nine physicists $3 million each for their contributions to the field. Milner made his fortune through Internet investments. He owns stock in companies like Zynga, Groupon and Facebook (maybe you’ve heard of it?). Thanks to him, nine physicists—including four at Princeton’s Center for Advanced Studies—are basically re-enacting the scene in which Scrooge McDuck goes for his daily money swim. [Inquirer]
