Coming Soon: Mr. Gay Philadelphia
Brittany Lynn – Philly’s drag queen with the biggest hair – and Frank DeCaro from The Frank DeCaro Show on Sirius Satellite Radio – host this year’s Philadelphia Mr. Gay on April 16 (8 p.m. ) at Voyeur. As the hottest guys compete around town at gay bars and clubs – they’ll end up at this year’s competition with celebrity judges including gossip gadfly Michael Musto and Paper magazine’s Mickey Boardman. Folks can also expect plenty of live entertainment to top off this hunky pageant – including the queens from Divalicious.
Last year’s sold-out event crowned Ryan Mattis as Philadelphia’s Mr. Gay. “Any openly gay resident of Philadelphia or the five-county region can register,” says Bruce Yelk, the event’s producer. “During the competition, contestants will be scored during two preliminary rounds: evening/club wear and swimsuit. The top five scorers advance to the finals and a Q&A session with event hosts and judges.”
Philadelphia will also again be hosting the U.S. Mr. Gay event later this year (Nov. 4-5). “Last year’s competition far surpassed all expectations of the IMG committee,” said Don Spraudlin, founder and president of IMG, the organization that created the event along with The Noble Beast Foundation. “The City of Philadelphia is very accessible, friendly and offers one of the most vibrant Gayborhoods in the country.”
