Interior designer Gregory Augustine transformed his one-room apartment from cavernous to collected by using a few simple rules. The first rule is the simplest: Decorate with things you love

Gregory Augustine practically lives at church. One year ago, the 31-year-old interior designer moved onto the second floor of a 150-year-old former rectory, part of an out-of-use Fishtown cathedral restored and owned by photographer Dominic Episcopo. In some ways, the apartment was perfect, with its 15-foot ceilings, grandly arched windows, and ample wall area for the designer’s ever-rotating art collection. But the space also had challenges, including how to make the expanse feel cozy and welcoming. His solution: Create intimate vignettes that flow within the larger space.
