DO YOU LIKE MARC VETRI AS MUCH AS GOURMET DOES?

Lots of Philly (read: Vetri & cheesesteak) love in the national mags this month.

Marc Vetri’s namesake restaurant has been open for 11 years (and Osteria for two), but he continues to catch the eye of the national mags. This month, in an issue dedicated to Italian cuisine (and all the great characters that come with it), Gourmet has a short profile on Marc and his memorable food. And surprise! When you turn the page, the next story is about cheesesteaks. The crew at Gourmet comes to their own conclusions (and exclusions — there’s not a mention of Jim’s or Geno’s). What do you think about their choices? Let us know below.

Back to Vetri: In GQ this month (the one with Jennifer Aniston on the cover), food writer and Philly native Alan Richman not only calls Italian the New French, but says Vetri is the best Italian restaurant in America.

We love Marc for all these things, as well as his dedication to charity and making the Philly restaurant scene better. I’m interviewing Marc at the Free Library on January 20th. Got any questions you want me to ask him? E-mail me at aprimis@phillymag.com.
