It's been ages since you hung up your dancing shoes and leotard, and the only ballet flats you own now are probably more trendy than they are functional. But for more than 35 years, the Philadelphia Dance Company's Philadanco dancers have been floating across stages with contemporary routines that garner them international acclaim. This hardworking group of talented stars — known for their high-powered energy — perform more than 50 concerts annually. Featuring world premiere contributions from Zane Booker and Rennie Harris, the company's back where it all started to show their hometown some brotherly love with a spring season performance. During this week's performances at the Kimmel Center, Philadanco promises to merge and defy dancing genres with every leap, plié and pointed toe. With their mesmerizing moves, inspired by African-American-based dance and combined with ballet, jazz and modern, be prepared to be wowed by the troupe's abilities — and immaculate physiques.
