After four Grammy nominations and worldwide acclaim, singer-songwriter Joss Stone is starting to prove she's no mere fad. With the release of her eponymous third album, Introducing Joss Stone, she’ll serenade Philly at the Electric Factory on April 30th. And this time around, vibrant ‘70s funk tinges her soulful sound. Songs such as “Tell Me 'Bout It” just make you want to move, while “Girl, They Won't Believe It” is reminiscent of Stone's old-school R&B record, Soul Sessions, which started her musical journey back when she was a mere adolescent. The British neo-soulstress celebrated her 20th birthday this month, and to mark a step in her journey to diva-dom, she's rocking a wilder look — an afro of red curls has replaced the natural, tousled blonde locks of the teenager of yesteryear. Despite these changes, there remains Stone's timeless voice, always soulful enough to belie her youth.
