Let’s face it: Most tribute bands are, well, lacking. And with terrible names like “2U” for U2, “Who’s Next?” for the Who and “Jef Leppard” for Def Leppard, it’s not all that surprising when the music doesn’t hold a candle to the original classics. Until recently, if you weren’t one of the lucky fans to have seen a now-defunct band like the Beatles, you were pretty much out of luck. But rest assured: If you had to choose — and could choose — the next best thing to the Beatles, their tribute band, RAIN, is actually pretty good. In fact, they’re really good. Travel back to the ‘60s with video screens displaying historical footage, television commercials and a set list of nearly 200 Beatles classics. The show covers the Beatles from their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show through the Abbey Road album, with all the music being performed live.

January 4th to 7th and 11th to 14th; times vary. Academy of Music, 240 South Broad Street. Tickets $35 to $75, available online.
