Caribbean Breezes on the Delaware

Forget the passports and plane tickets — experience all the sights, sounds and tastes of the islands at Penn’s Landing this Sunday at the 20th annual Caribbean Festival, part of the PECO Multicultural Series.

You can stash the Bob Marley greatest-hits CD for the weekend in favor of live authentic island reggae, gospel and hip-hop artists. The entertainment won’t stop there: look for ethnic poetry readings, skits and performances from dance troupes showcasing everything from traditional tribal dance to the islands’ more modern-day moves.

Don’t leave without first browsing the extensive marketplace of Caribbean arts and crafts, fashions, and other unique souvenirs. And be sure to sample the codfish fritters, Jamaican jerk chicken, rotisserie roasted corn, and water coconut. You’ll forget you’re in the city! Noon to 8 p.m.; free admission. —Kate Nugent
