What is your typical process for working with a new client?
The first thing we aim to discover when meeting with a client are their goals for the space. We want to find out the customers taste and style, and intended use for the outdoor space, to try and beautifully link the human and natural objectives for the area.
When we meet, we assess the space for both the human uses - layout, traffic flows, along with all the environmental factors impacting our choice of plant families. After meeting, we work to create a conceptual visualization along with pricing for installation. As we go through installation, our goal is to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible for the customer with plenty of communication, clear timelines, high quality installation practices, and fast follow up.
This process has evolved over time, and it began with my first job at a garden design company when I was 14. I was captivated by the way gardens and plants can transform the look and feel of a space, and the thought that goes behind creating living landscapes. I loved how the textures and colors and shapes, shifting as they grew and changed through the season, could make an area come alive.
As I continued to work in the field and continued my education at UVM in Sustainable Horticulture, I was exposed to the potential to create habitat, use rain water, and provide edible food production, all while making a space attractive and compelling. The potential to combine human goals in a built space while creating a home for the natural world - and then seeing the landscape come alive with birds and butterflies after we plant - has continued to inspire our work daily.
What do clients have to say about you?
"We highly recommend Daniel and his team to those who care about native plants, eco-friendly landscaping, and a natural look. From our first meeting with Daniel, the owner, to the final day of installation, we were impressed with their care, knowledge and focus. Daniel took the time to understand what we wanted and the challenges we have had with our yard over the past 18 years of ownership, and he even noticed small things that would make a big difference in our enjoyment of the landscape. He presented a design that we loved, and met our budget perfectly. He provided photorealistic images that showed exactly what it would look like. Mike, the foreman, and Eddie and Marco did excellent work re-laying our slate patio, re-grading our rear yard, and forming new planted beds and a walkway in our front yard. They are true professionals who did high quality work! " - Kristin O
"From start to finish we are absolutely thrilled with the work. Our project included hardscaping and landscaping. Eco landscaping built retaining walls, replaced our fence, created a flagstone pathway, among other things. Daniel helped conceptualize our vision and his team, led by Seth, executed our dream backyard above and beyond what we had originally even imagined. Communication has been excellent with Dan throughout the process. The team was also very courteous of our neighbors. We are excited to watch our garden grow and evolve." - Ayse Boemer
"In my opinion, you won’t be able find a better company than EcoLandscapes Design. They did a beautiful native plant design for my son’s new construction house and so I was happy to be able to hire them to completely redo the paths, patio, and plantings around my house. They were the most conscientious and pleasant workers to have around for this extended project. Their attention to detail and really wanting to do the job in a way that would perfectly satisfy the customer’s vision and preferences were so refreshing!" - Karen Macrae
