Timeline of 1523 Walnut Street
Georges Perrier opened Le Bec-Fin at 1523 Walnut Street in 1981. Since then, the address has been synonymous with fine dining and Philadelphia. But in recent times, the going has gotten a little rough, and word has just come down this week that Avance–the current (and, most likely, last) restaurant operating in the 1523 Walnut space–will be closing following service tomorrow night. Below is a look at what’s happened at 1523 Walnut Street since the start of the “modern era”–which we’re defining as since Tryst replaced Bar Lyonnais way back in 1987 August of 2011.
